Business Tax Climate

The official language is English, as are all contracts and legal documents.

Both 2025 and 2024 recorded increases in tourism of 25%, on top of a 70% increase in 2023. As these numbers grow Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has grown with a focus on new and transformational infrastructure. The construction of Belize’s first Cruise Ship Facility is well underway. Newly paved roads and modern day bridges ensure seamless accessibility to resorts, hotels and restaurants throughout the country.

Current government policy encourages development and land use is adjusted with ease. Due to the interest in receiving foreign investment, infrastructure and utilities are now being put in place to fast-track residential and tourist developments throughout the country.

Favorable Taxation: Belize is a tax haven with no capital gains or estate tax. Property taxes are incredibly low, and corporate taxes are 1.75% for international companies and 3% for domestic companies.

Adding to its already generous off-shore financial services, the International Companies Act (ICA) makes incorporating offshore companies simple, offering investors an attractive option for internationalizing their finance portfolios.

Baby-boomers are retiring at a rate of 10,000 per day. These retirees currently represent a huge percentage of real estate investors seeking second homes in countries that offer modern amenities, good weather, abundant recreation, and attractive tax benefits. The fact that all business transactions are conducted in English, makes this world-class getaway an even more attractive investment opportunity.

Belize's Government

A parliamentary democracy and a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, Belize is governed under a constitution established in 1981. While Belize recognizes the British monarch as its own head of state, this position and its powers are largely ceremonial. The Governor-General represents England’s Queen Elizabeth II, also recognized as the Queen of Belize in Belize. The Belizean government is structured much like the British parliamentary system, with a legal system modeled on the common law of England. Led by the Prime Minister of Belize who is also head of government, the parliament’s cabinet is comprised of members of the majority political party who typically hold elected seats. This cabinet exercises executive authority in Belize.

Once again

  • Belize has no restrictions on owning property, providing foreigners the same property rights as citizens and imposing no barriers to buying and selling real estate.
  • Belize has no capital gains tax!
  • Pensions are completely exempt from taxation.
  • The highly anticipated “Northern Ecological Corridor”, adjacent to Freedom Star Estates, is opening Northern Belize and significantly reducing travel time to Corozal Town restaurants and markets, and Chetumal MX, with an Int’l Airport and excellent medical facilities, turning what used to be an hours-long journey into a matter of minutes.
  • In these uncertain times Northern Belize continues to be one of the safest places to live.

Come see us, there’s never been a better time.
